10 injured in BCL-Cop clash in Chittagong

Staff Correspondent: At least 10 people including two policemen were injured as Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists clashed with police in Chittagong on Tuesday.

Sources said that the city BCL had been staging a human chain protesting construction of a swimming pool in the south end of Chittagong outer stadium at 4:30pm.

At one stage, the protesters started to throw brick chips aiming policemen. In reply, the law enforcers charged baton to dispersed the protesters which triggered the clash, leaving ten people injured including eight BCL men and two cops.

Earlier on Sunday, the BCL submitted a memorandum to the deputy commission giving 48 hours ultimatum to stop construction of swimming pool there.
