10-km tailback on Dhaka-Aricha highway

Manikganj Correspondent: A 10-kilometre long tailback was created on the Dhaka-Aricha highway due to slow vehicular movement on Thursday morning.

Assistant general manager (AGM) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Zillur Rahman said that a total of 19 ferries are operating right now. But, the ferries are taking time to carry vehicles due to river current.

"We are trying to provide sincere service for the sake of safe journey," he added.

Besides, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) authority said that a total of 33 launches are plying in Paturia-Daulatdia river route.

Traffic was seen moving slowly on Dhaka-Aricha Highway on Thursday due to heavy pressure of vehicles ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
