10 km tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway

Cumilla Correspondent: A 10-kilometre-long tailback was created from Meghna-Gomati Bridge toll plaza to Haripur area in Cumilla Thursday.

Nurul Islam, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Police Station said that the construction work in Gajaria and Meghna Bridge area put an impact in Cumilla region roads.

The traffic jam was created due to additional pressure of goods and sacrificial animals laden vehicles in the highway.

Cumilla Region Highway Police Super Nazrul Islam said garment workers blocked highway near Meghna Bridge on Tuesday afternoon which created traffic in both sides of Meghna and Gumti Bridge. Besides, the pressure of goods laden transport put an impact.

Hundreds of vehicles were stuck in the long tailbacks adding to people’s suffering.
