10km tailback in Cumilla

Cumilla Correspondent: A 10-kilometer long tailback was created on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Cumilla on Thursday morning.

The intolerable gridlock on the highway has eased today. The situation improved but still 10 kilometers long tailback was seen from Daudkandi's Gouripur to Meghna Gomoti toll plaza.

Earlier, there was 20 kilometer long tailback on the same route. Hundreds of passengers were stuck in the tailback on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway due to huge pressure of vehicles.

Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Highway Police said, the vehicular movement is slow due to additional pressure of goods laden vehicle on the highway. Besides, a road accident in Bhaberchar area on Thursday morning made the situation worsen.

Highway police are trying to control the situation, the OC added.
