18th JS session prorogued

Staff Correspondent: The 18th session of the 10th Parliament was prorogued on Thursday after only 10 sittings.

The 10 sittings passed three bills and unanimously accepted a resolution thanking Unesco for recognising the historic 7th March Speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a world documentary heritage.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the prorogation order of the President around 8:30pm.

During the session that started on November 12, some 286 notices were placed under Section 71 of the Rules of Procedure with of them being received and 11 discussed in the House.

Besides, 105 notices were discussed for two minutes under Section 71 (Ka) of the Rules of Procedure.

A total of 87 questions were received for the Prime Minister, of which she replied to 32 in the session.

The session received a total of 1,676 questions for different ministers with the ministers replying to 1,333.

Parliament on November 14 last unanimously adopted a resolution thanking Unesco and persons concerned, including its Director General, for inclusion of the historic 7th March Speech in the Memory of the World Register.
