2 members of fraud gang held in city

Staff Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel detained two members of a fraud gang with forged documents in Demra of Dhaka.

The detainees are Md Zakir Hossain Babul, 32 and Md Masud Hawlader, 34.

Md Shahibuddin Khan, deputy inspector general (DIG) of RAB-10, in a press conference on Friday noon said that the law enforcers conducted separate drives in Demra and Gazipur from Thursday noon to evening.

Meanwhile, RAB personnel detained the two fraud gang members with huge amount of fake certificates, licenses including BRTC driving licenses, number plates, registration cards and others equipments.

The fraud gang was involved with forgery from last 10 years. They supplied fake number plates, driving license, registration cards and insurance papers.



One of the arrestees, Zakir, first started a business selling signboards, banners and rubber stamps but later, in 2003, he started making and selling forged mark sheets and certificates of different universities and education boards. Later, another man named Masud joined the fraud gang.

Drive is underway to detain other members of the gang, RAB DIG added.
