2 lakh SIM cards allegedly sold to Rohingyas

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers Association alleged that two lakh mobile SIM cards have already been sold illegally to Rohingya refugees who entered Bangladesh to escape genocide in Myanmar.

It also alleged that the mobile operators have set a target to sell at least 10 lakh mobile SIM cards to Rohingya refugees through their agents.

The association came up with the allegations while addressing a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Monday.

The human chain was organised to ensure telecom service to Rohingyas free of cost and to press home the demand to ensure punishment for the mobile operators who are involved in the illegal sale of SIM cards.

Mohiuddin Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers Association and other leaders of the organisation were present at the human chain.
