20 hurt as BCL, Villagers clash in Rangpur

Staff Correspondent: At least 20 people were injured as a clash took place between BCL activists of Begum Rokeya University and villagers in the university area in Rangpur on Saturday.

Sources said that the clash erupted this morning and chase and counter chase took place between locals and BCL activists. At one stage, Dhaka-Rangpur and Lalmonirhat routes were blocked due to the clash. Later, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Chhatra League central committee general secretary Jakir Hossain said that a three member probe committee has been formed in this regard.

Confirming the matter, Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ABM Jahidul Islam said the situation is under controlled now.
