20-party alliance to name single candidate in DNCC by-polls

Senior Correspondent: BNP-led 20-party alliance will come up with a single candidate to vie for the upcoming mayoral polls to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said.

The BNP leader came up with disclosure while addressing a meeting at the National Press Club in the capital on Tuesday.

Rizvi said BNP will participate in the DNCC by-polls. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and other 20-party leaders will pick the lone candidate.

“People in Dhaka are fed up with crimes, murder, and forced disappearance committed by the government. We want to relieve people from these constant worry and decided to run for DNCC mayoral post,” he added.

He alleged that the government is spreading obfuscation over the election and hatching conspiracy.
