23-party: Decision on joining polls by 2 days

Senior Correspondent: The BNP led 23-party alliance will take decision by two days whether they will participate in the 11th general election.

Liberal Democratic Party Chairman Col (Rtd) Dr Oli Ahmed told this to the reporters on Saturday evening, after a meeting of the alliance.

The meeting was held at BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan political office that began at 6:30pm.

Oli Ahmed said, “BNP, main party of the alliance, will hold talks with the leaders of Jatiya Oikyafront within next two days and will decide whether we participate in the election.”

“Our key demand is to make free BNP Chairperson from jail which has yet not been met. The commitment made by the government not to harass opposition leaders and activists is just in the papers. Arrest and filing cases continue. Decision will be taken after having talks over the issues,” he added.
