26 lakh unemployed in country

Staff Correspondent: The number of unemployed people in the country are currently 26 lakh.

The labour force survey came up with the figure reported in Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

However, it did not give the number of educated and uneducated unemployed.

A workshop was held in this connection on Tuesday. Kabir Hossain, project director, highlighted the issue. He said the organisation will soon release the official results of the survey.

The workshop was held at Agargaon with Amir Hossain, the organisation's director general, in the chair.

The programme was also attended by Secretary of the Department of Statistics and Information Management KM Mozammel Haque, Additional Secretary ABM Zakir Hossain, Additional Director General of BBS Baytul Amin Bhuiyam, Industry and Labour Wing Director Ghosh Subrata, among others.

Kabir Hossain said the number of working people in the country are 10 crore and 60 lakh.
