27 get life term in Harun murder case in Mymensingh

Mymensingh Correspondent: A Mymensingh court has sentenced 27 people life term imprisonment in Harun-or-Rashid killing case.
Judge of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-2 of Dhaka Momtaj Begum announced the verdict on Tuesday.
The convicts are BNP chairperson's advisor Mosaddek Ali Falu's brother Nuruddin Ahmed, Ashraful Huq alias Ashraful Alam, Omar Faruk, Linkon, Jalal, Syed Shamim Hossain, Rahim Ahmed, Shamsul Islam, Abul Hossain, Faruq Ahmed, Akbar Hossain, Erfanur Rahman Khan , Solaiman, Zahid, Safaet Uddin Chowdhury, Abdur Rashid, Golam Rab, Shishir Chowdhury, Apollo Hossain, Aslam, Ilias Hossain, Hiru Mohammad, Liaquat Ali, Kanchon Mia, Sheikh Ashraf Hossain, Anisur Rahman and Abu Taher.
The court also fined Tk 10,000 each.
Among the accused, Nuruddin Ahmed, Ashraful Haque and Abdur Rashid were present in the court. Other accused are absconding.
According to the case details, on February 11, 1990, Harun-or-Rashid was killed in a firing by a group of Freedom Party leaders.
Harun's brother-in-law Mosharraf Hossain Bablu filed a murder case with the Kotwali Police Station after the incident. After investigating the case on July 10, 1990, the chargesheet was submitted to the court.
It is learned that the trial of the case started on October 11, 1990, in Mymensingh's first Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court.
