3 Bangladeshi human traffickers held

Staff Correspondent: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel detained three members of human trafficking gang over the boat capsize in Mediterranean that killed migrants.

The detainees are – Akkas Matubbar, Enamul Haque Talukdar and Abdur Razzak.

A team of RAB-1 detained the accused from capital’s Abdullahpur, Khilkhet and Airport areas early Friday.

RAB legal and media wing director Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan confirmed the matter.

He said, targeting low earners, the traffickers showed temptation of better future in European countries. Later, fortune seekers were sent Italy illegally through sea route.

Recently, many Bangladeshis have been killed in the recent boat capsize in the Mediterranean while being trafficked to Italy from Libya.

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society confirmed deaths of 27 Bangladeshis the boat capsize in the Mediterranean off the coast of Tunisia.
