3-day slow internet speed from today

Staff Correspondent: Internet speed will remain slow for three days across the country due to maintenance work of the first submarine cable (SEA-ME-WE-4).

Bangladesh Submarince Cable Company Ltd (BSCCL) said that due to bandwidth deficit the internet speed may remain slow from October 24-26.

Bangladesh was connected to the SEA-ME-WE-4 in 2005, which provided 250 giga bits per second of bandwidth. Bangladesh is also connected to six terrestrial cables.

The second submarine cable landing station was inaugurated in Patuakhali on September 10, 2017. Bangladesh will get approximately 1,500 giga bites per second of speed from this landing station's connection to the Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe international consortium's submarine cable, SEA-ME-WE-5.

Bangladesh's demand for internet is above 400Gbps. The remaining 280Gbps is imported from India.
