Staff Correspondent: Abdul Baten, Joint Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said, “The three leaders of the recent quota reform movement were not detained. They were picked up for taking some information from them and now they have been released.”

“They were called to take some information from them. They were shown some video footages of the day when the clash and vandalism took place in DU camps and its VC’s house during the demonstration for the reformation of quota system in government jobs. But they were not detained or arrested,” Abdul Baten told risingbd.com on Monday afternoon.

Faruk Hasan, joint convener of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Forum, told media that all the three have been released.

Leaders of the leading banner of the quota reform movement alleged that plainclothes picked the three leaders up and took them to their office by a microbus while they were going towards Chankharpool after concluding a press conference on Dhaka University campus at noon.

The three leaders who were picked up are Nurul Haque Nur, Faruk Ahmed and Rashed Khan. All of them are joint conveners of the forum

Earlier at a press conference held on Dhaka University campus at noon, Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council demanded withdrawal of all cases filed against the protesters during quota reform movement within two days.

Leaders of the council also threatened to wage strong movement again if their demand would not met within the stipulated time.

On April 11, four cases were filed against unnamed accused following the clash and vandalism in DU camps and its VC’s house during the demonstration for the reformation of quota system in government jobs.
