3 to walk gallows for killing college student in Gazipur

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Three people have been sentenced to death for killing a college student in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur.

Judge Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan of Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court-1 in Gazipur passed the order on Wednesday noon.

The convicts are Sohel, 35, son of Chan Mia, Alamin, 37, son of Ali Dewan and Jakir Hossain, 37, son of Kafil Sheikh.

The court also fined them Tk10,000 each.

Gazipur court Assistant Public Prosecutor Ataur Rahman said that the victim Alamgir was a student of local collage. But, some local youths threatened him becoming zealous. On October 7, 2002, the convicts attacked Alamgir with lethal weapon, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was taken to Kaliganj Hospital where he died under treatment.
