30 injured as RMG workers, cops clash in N'ganj

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: At least 30 people have been injured in a clash between readymade garment workers and police in Adamji EPZ area of the district on Monday.

Sources said that the garments workers of Sowad Fashion took position in the main gate of EPZ demanding due arrears and salary. Later, they started protest rally blocking road. Meanwhile, police tried to bring the situation under and the clash took place, leaving people 30 injured.

Law enforcers hurled tear gas to disperse the agitating workers who earlier set a covered van on fire apart from vandalizing other vehicles.

Narayanganj industrial police SP Jahidur Rahman said the situation is under controlled now.
