3rd Walton President Cup Golf tournament ends

Sports Correspondent: The third Walton President Cup Golf Tournament-2018 ended with the prize distributing ceremony on Saturday night.

The tournament was formally inaugurated with the sponsorship of country's local electronics giant Walton Group at Army Golf Club of Dhaka cantonment in the city on April 25.

Sheikh Faridul Islam became champion of the third version of the tournament while Maj Gen Fazlur Rahman (rtd.) secured the spot of champion in the Veteran Division.

Maj Gen M Rafiqul Islam (rtd) became champion of the Senior Division while Mrs Kulsum Farid in Ladies Division.

Master Jarif won the championship in Junior Division. All the champions were given trophy each.

Walton Group Vice Chairman SM Nurul Alam Rezvi was present in the prize giving ceremony as the chief guest at Army Golf Club of Dhaka cantonment.

Walton Group adviser Major General (retd.) Mujahid Uddin, Walton Group operative director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Tournament Committee Chairman Brigediar General Shah Nur Zilani, Army Golf Club Chief Executive Officer Lieutenant Colonel Tozammel Haque, General Manager (Club) Major (retd.) Syed Iqbal Hossain and general Manager (Ops and Sports) Major Muhammad Almas Uddin (retd.) were present, among others, on the occasion.

Maj Gen S M Motiur Rahman, president of the Army Golf Club, presided the prize distribution ceremony.

Participated by nearly six hundred amateur golfers including the foreigners the tournament was held in five categories-- ladies, junior, veteran, regular and senior.
