Staff Correspondent: A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Wednesday destroyed 400 maunds of mangoes which were ripened using different methods in Jatrabari area of Dhaka.
Sarwoer Alam, executive magistrate of the elite force, led the mobile court.
The mangoes were ripened using different methods which are illegal. Such mangoes are harmful to public health also, said Sarwoer Alam.
The law enforcers have also fined nine wholesale depots a total of Tk 24 lakh in this regard, he said.
The depots are Ma Enterprise, Saddam Traders, Nangolcourt Banijjyaloy, Shah Chandrapuri Shabji Vandar, Nannu Enterprise, Madaripur Banijyaloy, Sajib Traders, Bondhu Banijyaloy and Sabiha Banijjyaloy.
Sarwoer Alam said such anti-adulteration drive will be conducted for the sake of preserving customer’s interest.
