5 Apan Jewellers showrooms reopened

Staff Correspondent: 5 Apan Jewellers showrooms have been reopened today after a month long shut.

Earlier, some 570 kilograms of gold ornaments confiscated from Apan Jewellers had been deposited into the Bangladesh Bank. Later, the authority allowed Apan Jewllers to reopen their shops.

Customs Intelligence Investigation Directorate (CIID) Director General Dr Moinul Khan confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.

The CIID said in around 500kg of gold and diamond ornaments were seized and kept under Apan Jewellers’ custody after raiding the five showrooms on May 14 and 15 following initial investigations into allegations of smuggling against the jewelers.

The ornaments were apparently smuggled goods because the owners could not show valid documents of the procurement of those gold neither could they give any logical and acceptable explanation.
