Five teachers on hunger strike hospitalized

Staff Correspondent: At least five teachers have fallen sick and hospitalized while pursuing a hunger strike over demands of immediate enlistment under the government’s Monthly Pay Order scheme.
The teachers are- Nannu Mia from Pabna, ABM Bulbul from Narail, Farhad from Kurigram, Bazlur Rahman from Barisal, Abdul Khaled from Thakurgaon.
The teachers started sit-in strike on December 26. Later, they launched hunger strike from December 31.
Golam Mahmudunnabi Dollar, president of the Federation of Teachers and Employees of Non-MPO Educational Institution said that following the strike, five teachers have fallen ill on Monday. They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
However, no response from the government was seen yet, he added.
Binoy Bhushan Roy, general secretary of the organization said, "We will continue the hunger strike unto death. We are hoping that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take steps before our death."
