Secretariat Correspondent: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that the government will provide stipends to six lakh students this year.
The minister made the disclosure while addressing a programme at education ministry's conference room on Sunday.
He said, "Our main target is to help our girls who cannot continue the study due to poverty."
Nurul Islam Nahid also said, "The stipend project has an important role in women empowerment and in preventing dropout. About six lakh students will get the stipend this year. The students of higher secondary will get the money through mobile banking."
State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim, Mohiuddin Khan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education and other high officials attended the programme.
