7-murder won't affect RAB image: DG

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Though several members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were sentenced to death penalty in the cases filed over Narayanganj seven-murder, the incident will not affect the image of the elite force, said its Director General Benazir Ahmed.

He said, "Several RAB members were individually involved in the incident. They also got exemplary punishment for their misdeeds. The incident will not tarnish the image of the elite force which is engaged with providing services to people for 13 years. People are now reliant with the force."

In a query to newsmen, RAB DG came up with the statement at a warm clothes distributing programme in Rangpur on Friday morning.

Benazir said, "RAB does not shelter any crime. Many of the force have been sentenced to jail and suspended from the job for different allegations. The law enforcement agency will be kept clean at any cost."

About MP Liton murder, RAB DG said, "RAB alongside police is trying to uncover the mystery behind the killing. Operations would be continued till the real culprits are held."
