7 to walk gallows for killing farmer in Narsingdi

Narsindi Correspondent: A court in Narsingdi sentenced seven people to death for killing a farmer in 2009.
Additional District and Sessions Judge in Narsingdi Mohammad Shahin Uddin passed the order on Monday noon.
The court also fined each of them Tk 20,000.
The convicts are- Abdul Gaffar, son of Mahabbat Ali Munshi, Marfat Ali, son of Siraj Mia, Alek Mia, son of Moiz Uddin, Rupban, Sharif Mia, Arif Mia, Tota Mia. All the convicts are on the run.
Besides, the court also acquitted 13 others from the charge.
According to the prosecution, following a land dispute, the convicts threatened the farmer named Shamsul Haque. On August 30, 2009, they attacked Shamsul and his son with lethal weapon, leaving them critically injured. Later, locals rushed the injured to local hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.
