7 transport workers remanded in another case

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court placed seven transport workers on a day remand in a case filed with the capital's Darus Salam police station for subversive activities.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas passed the order on Sunday.

The accused are Rafiqul Islam, Hassanur, Robin, Md Sohel, Fazle Rabbi, Alamin and Enamul Haque.

The case was filed for blocking roads to move vehicles, vandalising police box and set it on fire and baring police to perform their duties during the strike enforced by the transport workers.

The transport workers went on a countrywide strike in protest of sentencing a bus driver to life-term in jail and a truck driver to death penalty for accidents which took lives.
