7 transport workers sent to jail

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has seven transport workers to jail in case filed for blocking roads, vandalising police boxes and setting it on fire and obstructing police to perform their duties.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Khurshid Alam sent them to jail after their remand period ended on Saturday.
The accused are Rafiqul Islam, Hasanur, Robin, Md Sohel, Fazle Rabbi, Alamin and Enamul Haque.
Earlier, Md Zobaer, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Darus Salam Police Station, produced them before the court and appealed to confine them in jail until the investigation into the case would end.
Transport workers went on countrywide strike in protest of court order sentenced to a bus driver to life-term and a truck driver to death for road crashes claimed several lives.
During the strike, transport workers blocked the roads, vandalised police box and set it on fire in the capital's Gabtoli.
