74 madrasa teachers fall sick in 3 days

Staff Correspondent: At least 74 teachers Ebtedayee madrasa have fallen sick in three days of their ongoing hunger strike in front of city’s National Press Club.

Though they are passing miserable days in severe on footpath, they did not get any response till the third day (Thursday) of their hunger strike started on January 9.

Earlier, they had observed sit-in programme for eight days at the same place when 10 teachers fell sick.

Quzi Mokhlesur Rahman, secretary general of Bangladesh Swatantra Ebtedayee Madrasa Shikkhok Samiti, said, "We expect assurance from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid to bring the registered  Independent Ebtedayee Madrasas under nationalization. Though we are passing days miserably for some days, the government is not looking at us with any mercy. We did not get any response till today (Thursday).
