'8 problems of housing industry identified'

Economic Correspondent: National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Nojibur Rahman said that the complexity over revenue of housing industry will not remain in future as eight problems in this sector were identified.

The NBR Chairman came up with the disclosure while addressing a joint meeting of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) and NBR at Hotel Purbani International in the capital on Saturday.

Nojibur Rahman said, "Several types of problems of housing industry deserve attention. NBR and REHAB will discuss over the issue. No complexity in this regard will remain in future. The housing industry will be established as a potential industry."

He also said that NBR provided tax services across the country organizing weekly long tax fair. The tax payers gave huge response which encouraged NBR."

"We will start new VAT act from 2019. NBR and REHAB will work together next two fiscal years to implement the law," he added.

Alamgir Shamsul Alamin, President of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) presided over the programme.
