80.35pc pass SSC, equivalent exams

Staff Correspondent: About 80.35 percent students have passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations of 2017.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and chairpersons of the education boards handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban on Thursday morning.

Around 17.86 lakh students under 10 education boards appeared for this year's SSC and equivalent exams which began on February 2.

As many as 1,04,761 students secured the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) this year.

Some 83.98 percent students passed in Dinajpur Board. Some 6,929 students got GPA-5 while 80.26% students passed in Sylhet Board and the number of GPA-5 holders is 2,663.

The pass rate is 76.20 percent in Madrasah Board and 78.69 percent in vocational board.
In Comilla Board, 59.03 percent students passed the examinations. A total of 4,450 students achieved GPA-5 in the board.

Some 83.99 percent students passed in Chittagong Board and 8344 students got GPA-5.

In Jessore Board, some 80.04 percent students passed and 6460 students got GPA-5.


The examinees will get their results from the respective centres, websites of their respective boards and also via mobile phones through short message service (sms) after the conference.

The results will be available on the website http:// www.educationboardresults.gov.bd.

To receive the results through sms, one needs to type the word SSC, then the first three letters of the respective board (for example DHA for the Dhaka Board), leave a space and type the roll number, another space and year in 4 digits (e.g. 2017) and then send the message to 16222.
