84 families to get 'Kar Bahadur Paribar' award

KMA Hasnath: A total of 84 taxpayers' families (Kar Bahadur Paribar) will receive awards for their role in establishing revenue-friendly culture in the country.
Internal Resources Division (IRD) of the finance ministry sources said that each family will get a crest and honorary certificate as Kar Bahadur Paribar.
The sources also said that a draft proposal in this regard was presented before the Finance Minister AMA Muhith and the minister approval it.
Earlier, in reply to a question, the Finance Minister said, "Our country is far behind than the neighboring countries over revenue collection. We will have to increase revenue earnings to ensure balanced development in the country. Kar Bahadur Paribar award will be given to the families who are encouraging countrymen to pay taxes."
Even, the minister mentioned this in his budget speech.
National Board of Revenue (NBR) took initiatives to collect information of those families who are paying taxes for long time regularly till 2016-17. Following the issue, letters were sent to all tax zones and notices were published in national dailies.
Responding to the notices, some 12 families applied for Kar Bahadur Paribar award. Later, NBR nominated 84 families after evaluating information from every tax zones of the country.
16 families from Dhaka, eight families from Chittagong and a single family from every district will get the award except Rangamati and Khagrachhari.
