Staff Correspondent: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said 900 buses of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will be kept ready to ensure special service for home-bound people during Eid-ul-Fitr after the holy month of Ramadan.

50 more buses will be ready at Jatrabari, Sayedabad, Mohakhali and Gabtoli bus terminals in the capital to tackle the tough situation created during that time, he said.

Besides, control rooms will be opened to monitor the special service, Quader said.

The Minister made the assertion while speaking at a programme at Kamalapur bus depot of BRTC in the capital on Wednesday.

Speaking as the chief guest, Quader said the special service beginning from June 22 will continue till three days after the Eid. The sales of advance BRTC bus tickets will begin seven days before the Eid.

A number of monitoring teams will remain ready on highways round the clock for ensuring smooth journeys of the home-goers and preventing collection of extra fares from passengers during the Eid rush, the minister said.

He also said, 600 buses and 500 trucks will be imported from India under the 2nd Indian Line of Credit (LoC) in December next.

The programme was organised to distribute cheques for pension and gratuity among 21 BRTC retired officials and employees.

BRTC Chairman Md Mizanur Rahman spoke on the occasion while other BRTC officials and employees were present there.
