90pc waste of sacrificial animals removed in DSCC

Staff Correspondent: About 90 percent waste of sacrificial animals has been removed from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area, claimed Mayor Sayeed Khokon.

The mayor came up with the statement at the post-waste removal press conference at Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Thursday noon.

On Eid day (Wednesday), DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon launched waste removal programme Kauartek animal market near Dholaikhal.

There, he announced of removing all waste of sacrificial animals within 24 hours. The deadline expired at 2:00pm on Thursday. Some 11,271 cleaners are working to remove waste DSCC.

He said, “We declared that we would remove waste within 24 hours. Nearly 90 percent of waste has already been removed on the first day. Animal sacrificing will be continued on Thursday and Friday too. So, cleaners will remain in the field till sacrificing continues. We will present a clean city removing 100 percent of waste.”

He said, “We have a target of removing 20,000 metric tons of sacrificial animal waste. Of which, 15,000 to 16,000 metric tons has been removed. We will present city dwellers a clean city after removing the rest waste.”
