Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved the charge-sheet against two persons including former Jute and Textiles Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui in a case filed for incurring a loss of Tk 40.69 lakh of the government through selling 2.38 acres of land of Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC).
The anti-graft watchdog gave the approval in its meeting on Thursday, ACC's Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told risingbd.
The other accused is Begum Jahanara Rashid.
Assistant director of the commission Md Aminul Islam filed the case with Adamdhighi Police Station in Bogra on October 17 in 2017.
According to the investigation report, Latif Siddiui misusing his power vested upon him as Jute and Textiles minister sold 2.38 acre of land to Jahanara Rashid flouting the rule of selling government property from 11 May 2010 to 30 December 2012.
With selling the land at Tk 23.94 lakh instead of its real price of Tk 64.63 lakh, Siddiqui made a crime of criminal breach of trust and a loss of Tk 40.69 lakh to the public exchequer.
