ACC grills Bachchu again

Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started interrogating former BASIC Bank chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachchu in three phases over a loan scam of nearly Tk 3.5 thousand crore.

A team of ACC led by its Directors Jaed Hossain Khan and Syed Iqbal Hossain began the interrogation at 2:20pm on Monday at the ACC headquarters in the capital.

ACC's Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the news.

The ACC yesterday summoned former BASIC Bank chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachchu for interrogation over a loan scam of nearly Tk 3.5 thousand crore.

The ACC to this end served a letter signed by its Director Sayed Iqbal Hossain to Bachchu to appear before it today at 9:00am.

Earlier on December 17 last year, Bacchu filed a petition seeking time for a month showing reason of sickness. But the watchdog body rejected the petition.

On December 4, the watchdog body interrogated Bachchu over the loan scam of nearly Tk 3.5 thousand crore.

Earlier, the ACC summoned former BASIC Bank chairman for interrogation nearly four years after ACC had started to investigate into the scam.
