ACC summons again 4 Abul Khair Group directors

Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has again summoned four directors of Abul Khair Group to appear for facing interrogation over allegations of dodging tax and amassing illegal wealth.

The Commission on Wednesday served a notice asking them to turn up at the ACC headquarters in the capital on January 9 to face the grilling, ACC sources said.

ACC Director Iqbal Hossain will interrogate the four directors of the business group over the allegation of dodging tax and amassing illegal wealth.

The directors are Abul Kashem, Abul Hashem, Abu Syed Chowdhury and Shah Shafiqul Islam.

Earlier they were summoned to face interrogation on Dec 21 and Dec 24. But they did not appear and sought time.

Earlier at a regular meeting on August 18 last, the national anti-graft body decided to initiate a probe against the directors of Abul Khair Group for the allegation.

In July last, the ACC received several allegations against a number of sister concerns of Abul Khair Group that they in collusion with some officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) dodged a huge amount of tax and its owners accumulated huge illegal wealth.
