ACC’s sudden drive at BRTA office

Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a sudden drive at Mirpur office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to make registration and fitness activities corruption free.

The watchdog body conducted the operation on Thursday after getting allegations by people who fell in harassment in the office.

During the drive, a Shikor Paribahan bus failed in immediate fitness examination conducted by the modern vehicle fitness device which was recently set up at the office.

The ACC team put emphasis on using the machine for all the time to check fitness of vehicles.

Besides, 10 private cars immediately got fitness certificates in presence of the ACC team without any harassment and corruption.

ACC's Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the news to risingbd.

He said a nine-member team including police members led by ACC deputy director conducted the drive at Mirpur office of BRTA for long five hours on Thursday. The team also exchanged views with 10 recipients and collected different information.

The sources said the ACC team also immediately suspended a BRTA official, Shah Mohammad Muabia, who was on duty at counter 113 in providing registration and fitness certificate after attending recipients alleged against him.
