AL starts membership collection, renewal programme

Staff Correspondent: Ruling Awami League inaugurated the party's membership collection and renewal programme after seven years.

Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, also the prime minister, inaugurated the programme renewing her own membership on Saturday.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader also renewed his membership. Dhaka University professor Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan and Barrister Farjana Begum joined Awami League as new member.

Awami League Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap said the party president and general secretary renewed their membership. From now district leaders will continue the campaign. 

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina urged the party leaders and workers to strengthen the organization at the grassroots and vowed that the AL will not stop its struggle until changing destiny of the downtrodden.

Presidents, general secretaries, information secretaries, office secretaries and their deputies, publicity and publication secretaries and their deputies of organisational district units were invited to the programme.
