ASI suspended for assaulting journo at Shahbagh

Staff Correspondent: An assistant sub inspector (ASI) was suspended today for assaulting journalists of a private television channel during the half-day shutdown demanding cancellation of Rampal power plant project near the Sundarbans.

The authority also has formed a three-member probe committee in this regard. The committee has been asked to submit their probe report within next two working days.  

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna zone Deputy Commissioner Maruf Hossain Sardar confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.

According to the eyewitnesses, the ASI assaulted ATN News Cameraperson Abdul Alim and its Correspondent Kazi Ehsan physically at Shahbagh area on Thursday noon.
