'ASP Mizan killed by four muggers'

Staff Correspondent: Four muggers killed Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mizanur Ranman Talukder, according to Shah Alam, one of the muggers arrested in the case.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Chief Monirul Islam came up with the disclosure at a press conference at the media centre of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the capital on Sunday.

He said, Mintu, Kamal alias Faruk, Zakir and arrested Shah Alam took part in the killing. Shah Alam admitted this in primary interrogation.

"Of them Mintu, who was on the back seat, hit Mizanur in his head and one of them strangulated him with a piece of jhut (garment factory wastes)," he added.

They later dumped the body near Birulia Bridge, Monirul said.
