‘Abducted’ businessman returns home

Staff Correspondent: The businessman, who was traceless for a week after some people identifying themselves as detectives had picked him up from his house in Dhaka's Bashundhara Residential Area, was found today.

Sazal Chowdhury, who is involved in ship breaking business, returned to his house around 10:30am on Sunday.

Sazal's mother Diluara Begum said the abductors dumped Sazal in Noakhali early Sunday from where he phoned her and confirmed that he had been released.

The abductors also gave Sazal Tk 2,000 after setting him free. With that money, he hired a car and made his way to Dhaka and reached home around 10:30am, she said.

Sazal was beaten up severely and got feared, Diluara Begum added.

Sazal however did not provide further details on his abduction.

On March 11, Sazal was dragged out of his flat on the first floor of a building at Block-G and forced him into a microbus around 7:30pm.

Sazal's mother Diluara Begum went to Bhatara Police Station immediately after the incident, but police denied recording any general diary, alleged the woman.
