Accused Shafat, Sakif brought to Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: Ahmed Shafat and Shadman Sakif, accused of raping two university students at an upscale hotel in Banani area, have been brought to Dhaka.
Sahely Ferdous, assistant inspector general (media) of police headquarters, confirmed the matter.
They were brought to Dhaka on Thursday night and they will be produced before a Dhaka court on Friday noon, Sahely Ferdous said.
Police last night arrested the duo, who are among the five accused in a case filed over the rape, from Pathantola area in Sylhet.
Following the direction of IGP AKM Shahidul Haque, a police team arrested the accused rapists around 9:00pm.
Earlier, the two private university girls who were raped allegedly by the two youths in an upscale hotel in the capital's Banani area around one a half month ago gave their judicial statements before a court in Dhaka.
On May 6, one of the rape victims filed a case with Banani Police Station accusing five people.
Of the accused, Shafat Ahmed, 26, and Nayem Ashraf, 30, were sued for raping the two female university students while Shadman Sakif, 24, Shafat's driver Billal, 26, and his unnamed bodyguard for abetting in the crime.
