Murder accused killed in ‘Chattogram gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: An accused in Juba League murder case was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in the port city on Monday midnight.

The gunfight took place in Agrabad area under Double Mooring thana of the city, Sudip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Double Mooring Police Station, said.

The deceased was identified as Jabed, a murder accused of former Juba League leader Mohiuddin Sohel.

Sudip Kumar Das said that on information that a gang of terrorists was taking drug in Jamburi field area, a team of police conducted the drive.

Sensing the presence of police, the terrorist opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, leaving Jabed injured with bullet.

Later, the injured was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
