Accused gets bail in ex-SP Babul's wife murder

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has granted bail to an accused for six months in a case filed over the murder of former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akter's wife Mitu.

The accused who secured bail is known as Saidul Islam Shikdar Sakku.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order on Tuesday.

Advocate Kumar Debul Dey stood for the accused while assistant attorney general Yousuf Mahmud Morshed represented the state in the court.

On June 5, 2016, bike riding assailants waylaid SP Babul’s wife Mitu at OR Nizam Road near GEC intersection in the city while she was going to board her son to his school bus from their residence.

Later, they stabbed and shot Mitu to death and fled from the spot. Later, Babul filed a murder case.
