Acid attack on wife, mother-in-law in old Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: A man allegedly hurled acid on his wife and mother-law over feud at Companyganj of Genderia in Dhaka on Monday night.

The man was identified as Belal Uddin.

The acid victims are Rubina Begum, 30, and her mother Parvin Begum, 45.

They were admitted to the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) immediately.

DMCH camp police said Rubina along with her mother Parvin live in a rented house at Companyganj. They were attacked with acid on Monday night. Police are working to arrest the miscreant.

Relatives of the acid victims said Rubina was sitting on the bed after she had dinner and her mother was watching TV lying on it. At the moment, Belal, husband of Rubina, hurled acid on them through the window, leaving faces and other parts of their bodies burnt. Hearing hue and cry, locals rushed to the spot and took the victims to DMCH immediately.

Belal is drug addicted which caused feud in their couple-life. He hurled acid on Rubina and her mother over family conflict, locals added.
