Agreements with Niko illegal: Hearing on Jan 11

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has declared Niko’s agreements with Bapex and Petrobangla illegal and it will hear on the case on January 11, 2018.

A five-member bench of Appellate Division headed by acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah passed the order on Thursday.

Barrister Rokon Uddin Mahmud was in favour of the writ petitioner. Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the state.

On August 24, the High Court declared the Niko’s agreements with Petrobangla and Bapex illegal.

Barrister Tanjib ul Alam stood for the petitioner and Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the state.

At the same time, the court ordered to seize property of Niko Bangladesh and Block-9.
On that day, Barrister Moin Gani was the lawyer of Bapex and Petrobangla in the International Arbitration Court.
