Ailing Quader sent to Mount Elizabeth Hospital

Staff Correspondent: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader who was undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has been sent to Mount Elizabeth Hospital of Singapore for better treatment.

An air ambulance carrying the AL senior leader left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore around 4:07 pm on Monday.

Quader’s wife Ishratunnechha Quader and his private doctor Abu Naser Rizvi have accompanied him.

According to hospital sources, Dr Naser Rizvi has been taken with Quader as per the consent of Ishratunnechha Quader.

Asked, BSMMU Vice Chancellor Prof Kanak Kanti Barua said, “Dr Naser Rizvi enquired about Quader all the time after he fell sick. That’s why, he has been taken following the consent of Quader’s wife.”

Quader has been taken to Singapore for better treatment following the recommendation of renowned Indian cardiologist Devi Shetty.

Earlier on Sunday evening, a specialized team from Singapore arrived in Dhaka to observe the physical condition of Obaidul Quader.

Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was admitted to the CCU of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital on Sunday morning following his breathing complications. Later, he was diagnosed with three blockages in coronary arteries.
