All set for Comilla city polls

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission has completed all kinds of preparation to hold the Comilla City Corporation (CCC) polls on March 30 in a peaceful environment.

The EC is paying special attention to the CCC polls as a huge number of law enforcement personnel would be deployed along with its own election observers.

EC sources said that around 5,000 law enforcers, including the police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Ansar, will be deployed in 103 voting centers to maintain law and order.

Besides, nine BGB platoons would be kept as reserve forces and RAB, police, Ansar and village defence parties (VDP) would be deployed as strike forces. These forces would be there in the field for three days before the elections.

Comilla deputy commissioner Jahangir Alam said that a total of 45 magistrates including 36 executive magistrates and nine judicial magistrates will observe total law and order situation during the polls.
