'All should assist new IGP'

Staff Correspondent: Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque urged all members of the department to assist new IGP Mohammad Javed Patwary to hold the next general election.
He said, "It is big challenge for the upcoming IGP to hold the next general election in free and fair manner. For that, he needs assistance from all."
IGP said this while speaking at a programme at Police Memorial College of the capital's Mirpur on Friday.
Shahidul Haque said, "The new IGP will take his office in a few days. The general election will also be held this year. For this, plans have to be made with all policemen.
"I tried my best to make police department stronger in my tenure. I have done many things in this regard. The department will go ahead if it continues," he added.
He also said it is possible to ensure security for common people across the country if militancy could be ruled out.
