Allegation of pressure on CJ baseless: Law Minister

Senior Correspondent: Law minister Anisul Huq ruled out the allegation that said chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha was forced to go on leave.

The minister made the assertion while addressing reporters at his secretariat office in the capital on Tuesday noon.

He said, "The honourable chief justice is suffering several types of disease including cancer. That’s why he went on one month long leave."

In reply to a question regarding allegations that the chief justice was forced into leave, Minister Huq said it was “totally baseless”.

Earlier in the morning, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) started office under acting chief justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah.
