Annisul Huq’s father dies

Secretariat Correspondent: Shariful Huq, father of the former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Annisul Huq and army chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, is no more.

He breathed his last at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) around 11.00am on Wednesday due to old-age complications.

He was 95.

PS to the late mayor ASM Mijanur Rahman confirmed the matter.

Family sources said Huq would be buried at Banani graveyard on Saturday after his two expatriate sons reach in Dhaka from the United States. Huq was a former director of Bangladesh Ansar from where he retired in 1982.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Kader and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain expressed deep shock at the death of Shafiul Huq.
